Looksglo App Review: Is It Still Worth $9.99 a Week in 2026?

Looksglo hasn’t been updated since January, its Android app is gone from Google Play, and the paywall comes before anything. What it does and free options.

You searched “looksglo app” and found a product promising skin analysis, face maps, celebrity lookalikes and a glow-up preview. Then the subscription screen appeared before you could tell whether the app had anything useful to show you.

So the real question behind a Looksglo review is not whether a face map can be fun. It is whether the price, the access, the upkeep and the photo handling make sense together.

Probably not. Looksglo still sells a $9.99 weekly plan on iOS, but it has not been updated since January 10, 2026, its Android listing returns not found, and most written reviews say payment comes before anything useful. It is a skin-analysis and face-shape app, not a validated attractiveness test.

Desk research as of October 10, 2026; we bought nothing.

Key numbers

  • $9.99 weekly — The current U.S. App Store listing also shows a $34.99 one-year purchase. App Store listing
  • 223 ratings — The store displays a 4.3 average, while the available written-review sample contains 26 reviews. iTunes lookup
  • January 10, 2026 — Version 2.0.1 is the latest listed iOS update. App Store listing
  • 404 — The U.S. Google Play URL for the Android package (com.looksglo.looksglo) returned “Not Found” when we checked on October 10, 2026.
  • $519.48 per year — That is the weekly-plan arithmetic: $9.99 × 52, compared with $34.99 for the listed one-year plan. App Store listing

What is Looksglo and what does it do?

Looksglo is an iPhone app built around one face upload. Its listing says it identifies face shape and skin attributes, draws ten face-map visualizations, finds a celebrity lookalike, and previews how you might look copying that person’s hair or style. There is also a community feedback feature.

The pitch has drifted. The subtitle says “Become hotter with science,” earlier release notes promised “Real ratings, Not A.I.,” and the latest version added a celebrity glow-up image. It does not promise a numeric attractiveness scale or an accuracy figure.

So judge it as what it is: skin mapping, face-shape labels and comparison entertainment—not a measure of how attractive you are.

Someone who specifically wants a face-shape idea or a celebrity comparison may still enjoy it. Our concern is the gap between that narrow use and the subscription.

Is Looksglo legit?

Looksglo is a live iOS app from a named individual seller, Nathaniel Tripet, with a website, a privacy policy and terms. That makes it a real product. It does not make it a good purchase.

The upkeep is the bigger issue. The latest iOS update, January 10, 2026, opened the longest gap in its update history. The newest written U.S. review is from June 12, 2025. The website is a one-screen landing page whose Google Play button is commented out in the code, and the only remaining Android listing, on a third-party site, shows version 1.0.20 from August 2024.

Hence the rule for this category: check the update date before the price. A live subscription on a quiet app deserves more skepticism than a pricier one on software that is clearly maintained.

“Minimally maintained” is what the dates support. “Abandoned” would go too far—the iOS app is still live and still takes payments.

What does Looksglo cost?

Looksglo is free to download, but its own description says a premium subscription is required to use its features. The U.S. listing shows $9.99 weekly and $34.99 for one year. Older reviews mention $3.99 a week; when the price rose is unknown.

OptionListed priceWhat stands out
Weekly$9.99$519.48/year arithmetic
One year$34.99Far cheaper over a year

The arithmetic is lopsided: kept for a year, the weekly plan costs about 14.8 times the annual one. A poor default for anyone who forgets to cancel.

The reviews raise a second concern. About twelve of the 26 written reviews say payment appears before you can see anything, and six mention being limited to one selfie or no rescans. One says: “Immediate paywall once you sign up. App is not free.” Another: “Cant even use the app or see if i like it before it slaps the subscription in my face. No free version either.” Our pricing index and paywall explainer show how common this pattern is.

The 4.3 store average is real, but the 26 written reviews average about 2.0, with 15 one-star. Text-less ratings cannot tell us why people rated it.

Is Looksglo accurate?

There is no public evidence that it is. The listing describes face maps, skin attributes, celebrity resemblance and a glow-up preview, but offers no validation study or accuracy figure. User experiences are mixed.

One five-star reviewer said it gave “a pretty accurate facial analysis and celebrity look alike”; another liked getting “a lot of feedback with different maps.” Those are honest experiences, not validation—a celebrity match can feel convincing without the analysis underneath being reliable.

Input is the other limit. A four-star reviewer was impressed by the first scan, then realized “you can only upload one photo.” A single selfie cannot capture how face, physique, outfit, expression and lighting combine in a real first impression.

We did not subscribe or run repeat scans, so we cannot say how stable its results are.

What happens to your photos?

Your photos are processed off-device. The privacy policy names Clarifai for celebrity lookalikes and an unnamed skin-analysis vendor. It says response files are kept for 24 hours, and face data and results stay until you request deletion or delete your account.

The documents do not line up. Apple’s privacy label lists photos under “Developer’s Advertising or Marketing,” while the policy says face data is not used for advertising. The policy also says data is not shared with third parties—then names two third-party processors.

Ages disagree too: the terms say 13+, the privacy policy says it does not serve anyone under 17, and Apple shows 17+ or 18+ depending on the page. Both legal documents date from mid-2024, before the newer glow-up features. See how other apps compare in our face-rating app privacy audit.

The policy’s printed deletion email contains a typo, so keep a copy of any deletion request and check which address answers.

How do you cancel Looksglo and request a refund?

Looksglo is billed through Apple, so cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions (Apple’s steps). The terms send refund requests to the store, so use reportaproblem.apple.com. Canceling stops future renewals; it does not refund past charges.

Verify the cancellation took. One review from October 8, 2024 says: “I canceled my subscription, and i'm still getting charged??? i used it once and ive been charge an extra 4 times after canceling the service!” Another, from May 9, 2025, says the in-app support option opens an empty page. Check your subscription status afterward and save the confirmation.

Is there a free alternative to Looksglo?

It depends on the question. If you want skin maps or a celebrity comparison specifically, a general tool won’t replace those. If you want to know how you come across without a weekly subscription, a different format serves you better—our list of free looksmaxxing apps that don’t paywall the result is a good start.

For a broader first-impression read, our free first-impression test reads your whole first impression (face, physique, outfit). The read and breakdown are free on a free account with no card; deeper modules are $1.50 each, one-time, never a subscription. It is a perception test, not a clinical instrument.

Whatever you use, treat the result as a starting point, not a reason to keep checking. Pick one or two concrete levers—better lighting, a haircut that suits your face shape, consistent skin care, clothes that fit, regular training—and give them time before asking for another verdict.

The bottom line

Looksglo is a real iOS app with some appealing features, but today’s package is hard to recommend: $9.99 a week, a paywall reported before results, a long update gap, no U.S. Android listing, and privacy documents that contradict each other. The $34.99 annual plan improves the arithmetic, not the problem of paying before you can see anything.

If you want a broader read first, start with our free first-impression test. And whatever app you consider next, check the update date before the price—a cheap plan on a dormant product is still the wrong purchase.
