Photoeval Review: Real Votes, Hidden Prices, and Scores That Swing

Photoeval mixes an OpenAI score with member votes on your dating photos. Prices sit behind a login; sales are final. When it helps, when it doesn’t.

You finish setting up a dating photo on Photoeval, wait for strangers to weigh in, and watch one number appear before the human feedback has even started. Then the page asks you to rate somebody else’s picture to earn votes, while the price for getting results faster remains somewhere behind the login wall.

Is that useful outside perspective, or just another volatile number? It depends less on the decimal than on how many independent voters actually show up.

Photoeval is a real, long-running web service, not an app-store product: it combines an instant AI 1–10 result with slower member votes and comments. The human layer can help when you collect enough responses, but hidden pricing, final-sale terms, and recent reports of slow or thin voting make it a cautious tool rather than a dependable verdict.

Desk research as of October 13, 2026; we bought nothing.

What is Photoeval and what does it do?

Photoeval is a web-only attractiveness testing service. You upload a face photo and receive two separate forms of feedback: an instant AI result on a 1–10 scale, and anonymous member votes with comments that arrive more slowly. The site also offers voter preferences by gender, age, and country, according to its FAQ.

The AI layer is presented as an analysis of facial symmetry, proportions, and skin texture. Its terms say the service integrates OpenAI, while the homepage describes models trained on extensive datasets without naming the model or a validation study.

The human layer is more concrete but less convenient. Photoeval says you earn comments by rating other people’s photos; paid features can get votes faster or unlock premium features. Unlike Photofeeler’s three-axis approach, Photoeval centers on one attractiveness result, not separate attractive, smart, and trustworthy judgments.

One axis is fine for choosing between two photos; it says nothing about whether you look warm or approachable.

Is Photoeval legit?

Yes, in the narrow sense: it is a live website with a product history going back to 2021. That is not a promise that every vote is independent, every AI claim is proven, or any purchase is reversible.

The operator is not named on the homepage, FAQ, privacy policy, or terms. The terms say French law governs, and support is listed through a Gmail address. There is no iOS or Android app; it runs in the browser.

Photoeval’s own comparison with Photofeeler says competing photos score too close to 9 or 10 and raises questions about bots. That page is written by Photoeval, so it is marketing rather than an independent audit. The same caution applies to search results: the Skywork page labels its results hypothetical and its pricing conceptual, while GenAI Works is a directory card, not a hands-on test.

Our short version: thirty strangers beat one number. Thirty votes are not automatically true, but a sample of independent reactions tells you more than one algorithmic output.

Nobody has publicly audited whether the voter pool is bot-free, so keep reliability claims modest.

What does Photoeval cost?

Photoeval publishes no public price. The pricing page is closed to logged-out visitors, no amount appears on any public page, and third parties disagree (“1$ per detailed review,” a one-time payment, a premium subscription). The only safe price is the one shown at checkout.

PathWhat the public information saysPractical catch
Free votesRate other photos to earn votesA user reported a cap after 5 votes
Paid accessFaster votes or premium featuresExact price is hidden until login
PremiumCan show who left feedbackNo public cancellation steps

The free path is a trade: your time becomes the currency, so the result depends on how lively the community is. A 2025 user wrote that the site was “mostly dead,” while another 2026 comment said, “There are not a lot of users, so the voting is slow.”

The site may show a real price after login; this review cannot turn an unavailable checkout into a confirmed number.

Is Photoeval accurate?

Photoeval can be useful for a directional reaction, but its accuracy is limited by two different uncertainties: the AI number is not accompanied by a named validation study, and human averages can swing when the vote count is small. Photoeval itself recommends at least 30 votes; one heavy user says scores “change A LOT under 150 votes.”

That is sampling math: with five votes, one extreme reaction drags the average; with fifty, it barely matters. Thirty strangers beat one number only when the strangers actually show up and resemble the audience you care about.

The cross-site comparisons show why a number should not be treated as portable truth. One Reddit user reported a photo receiving 4.4 on Photofeeler and 10 on Photoeval. Another reported Photofeeler results of 6.2 and 7.0, while the exact same photos received 5.3 and 3.0 on Photoeval. Different voter pools give different answers; neither decimal is “the real one.”

Recent reports also describe slow delivery: Photoeval says human results can take hours to a few days, while a 2025 user described waiting more than a month for 200 votes.

Use the result to compare photos, not to diagnose your face. If checking turns into score hunting, stop and change one variable — lighting, crop, expression — instead.

Photoeval’s human layer may still be valuable for someone who needs pure attractiveness feedback and can wait for a substantial sample.

What happens to your photos?

Photoeval says active photos can be seen by people selected through your preferences, and that deleting a photo removes it from rating and top-photo pages. But the privacy policy gives no retention period for photos, does not name OpenAI, and does not explain whether uploads are used for model training. The terms grant a broad licence to uploaded content.

The wording is important: users grant Photoeval a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to “display, use, copy, transmit, and broadcast” uploaded content. The FAQ says photos are visible only on the website and will not appear in Google search results, but the licence is broader than that reassuring sentence.

The site says it has no advertising, though Google Analytics loads on the homepage. Users must be 18+. Assume your photo may reach OpenAI, and never upload someone else without permission.

The policy may reflect older wording—the listed privacy update is January 1, 2023—so the absence of a retention period is a genuine uncertainty, not proof of misuse.

How do you cancel Photoeval and get a refund?

Photoeval’s public terms say: “After purchase and delivery of the service no refund or cancellation is possible.” They make one exception for a technical problem that prevents delivery, in which case the terms say to contact support. No public instructions explain how to cancel a recurring premium membership.

That makes the sequence simple but unforgiving:

  • Before paying: confirm the exact amount, what it unlocks, and whether it is recurring.
  • After a technical failure: contact supp.photoeval@gmail.com and describe the undelivered service.
  • For ordinary dissatisfaction: do not assume a refund is available; the published terms say the opposite.

This is not an Apple purchase, so Apple’s refund route does not apply.

The terms are at least clear about final sales; it is the hidden price that makes them hard to live with.

Is there a free alternative to Photoeval?

Yes — two, depending on what you need: an instant broader read, or real people’s votes collected for free.

For a broader first-impression read, our free first-impression test reads your whole first impression (face, physique, outfit). The read and breakdown are free on a free account with no card; deeper modules are $1.50 each, one-time, never a subscription. It is a perception test, not a clinical instrument.

For real people’s reactions without a queue, use three steps:

  1. Choose the job first. Decide whether the photo is meant to show approachability, style, or pure appearance. Our guide to which photo should I use starts with that decision.
  2. Show the same small set. Ask several people the same question, with no leading explanation, and record repeated themes rather than chasing the highest number. The dating-app photo guide covers practical selection.
  3. Change one variable. Test crop, light, expression, or background separately. If the feedback converges, act on the pattern; if it conflicts, treat the disagreement as a limit of the test.

Photoeval’s own male-attractiveness page deserves a separate warning. It labels level 1 “Disfigured/Deformed” and maps levels to height bands and an estimated number of partners. We think that framing is harmful: it turns a reaction to one photo into a degrading identity label and a forecast of someone’s love life. No photo test can decide either.

The bottom line

Photoeval is worth treating as an experiment, not an authority. Its human votes add signal when the sample is large, but the hidden price, final-sale terms, slow recent voting, unnamed operator and broad upload licence raise the cost of curiosity. Thirty strangers beat one number, but only if the thirty are real, independent, and actually arrive.

If the goal is simply to choose a stronger dating photo, start with a controlled comparison and concrete changes instead of repeatedly checking your attractiveness. For a broader first-impression read, try the free test, then decide whether the deeper breakdown is useful.

Frequently asked questions

Is Photoeval legit?

Photoeval is a real web service live since 2021, with an AI attractiveness result and member votes. Legitimacy is not the same as accuracy, though: read the sample-size limits and privacy terms before uploading a photo.

Is Photoeval free?

Photoeval says you can earn human votes by rating other people’s photos, but a user reported reaching the free-vote limit after five votes. The public site does not state whether the instant AI test is unlimited. For other options, see our Photofeeler alternatives roundup.

How much does Photoeval cost?

There is no public price: the pricing page is unavailable to logged-out visitors, and third-party claims conflict. Photoeval says paid features can speed up votes or unlock premium access. Compare the practical tradeoffs in our photo rating sites guide.

Can you get a Photoeval refund?

Photoeval’s terms say that after purchase and delivery, no refund or cancellation is possible, except when a technical problem prevents delivery. That makes the hidden checkout price especially important to confirm before paying.

What is a free alternative to Photoeval?

For a broader first-impression read, use our free first-impression test, which looks at face, physique, and outfit. It is a different kind of tool: a perception read rather than a queue of stranger votes, with deeper modules available separately.
