GlowMax App Review: Honest Answers on Price, the PSL Score and Those AI ‘After’ Photos
GlowMax is free to download; Premium costs $7.99/week to $29.99/year. Its score comes from OpenAI and 89 ratings prove little. Prices, privacy, refunds.

You saw the ad: a 30-day "ascension," a before-and-after almost too clean. Now you're on the App Store page for GlowMax: Looksmaxxing Glow Up, weighing $7.99 a week against 89 ratings and three written reviews.
Short answer: GlowMax is a real iPhone app with normal Apple billing, free to download; Premium runs $7.99/week to $29.99/year. Its score is OpenAI's unvalidated opinion of one photo, and 89 ratings are too few to judge. If you try it, buy the year, never the week, and skip the AI image packs.
We build a first-impression test (full report $5) and haven't bought GlowMax. Facts come from its listing, policies and reviews, checked October 17, 2026.
GlowMax at a glance
- Price: free download; Premium $7.99/week, $12.99/month, $19.99 or $29.99/year; AI image packs at $4.99 and $14.99.
- Paywall: Premium unlocks "unlimited" face and skin analysis, implying a capped free tier.
- Rating: 4.5 stars from 89 ratings; three written U.S. reviews.
- Privacy: photos go to OpenAI and stay in an on-device history, not on Starlight's servers.
- Verdict: a reasonable grooming coach in PSL clothing.
What is GlowMax?
GlowMax is an iPhone looksmaxxing app from Starlight Ltd., a British Virgin Islands company, launched December 30, 2025 and updated September 17, 2026. It analyzes a face photo, then suggests hairstyles, skin care, style and AI coaching (App Store).
Its release notes are blunter: a coach built on a "PSL scale assessment," jawline exercises, a scan history to "watch your PSL score climb." PSL is a harsh 1–8 attractiveness scale from looksmaxxing forums (Wikipedia).
Starlight lists 13 U.S. apps, from card scanners to a Bible-verse widget; its website says only "Coming Soon."
Is GlowMax free? Where does the paywall hit?
Free to download, not free to use fully. Premium unlocks unlimited face and skin analysis, progress tracking and photo history, implying a limited free tier. No review says where the price sheet appears, and we didn't install the app.
- "GlowMax free APK": the app is iPhone-only; Android "Glowmax" apps come from other developers. Google warns apps from outside its store can be harmful (Play Protect).
How much does GlowMax cost over a year?
Between $19.99 and $415.48. Weekly billing at $7.99 renews to $415.48 over 52 weeks; just three weekly charges ($23.97) top the $19.99 year.
| Listed purchase | Price | 12 months if it renews |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly Premium | $7.99 | $415.48 |
| Monthly Premium | $12.99 | $155.88 |
| Yearly Premium | $19.99 or $29.99 | $19.99 or $29.99 |
| PSLMAX AI Image Pack | $4.99 or $14.99 | Contents not described |

What do GlowMax users say?
Too few to tell. The U.S. feed holds three written reviews from February to April 2026: one five-star, two one-star. The 89-rating average is 4.54; ten new one-star ratings would drag it to 4.18.
- 5 stars, April 25, 2026: a "better jawline and Better posture in less than 2 weeks" (App Store).
- 1 star, April 17, 2026: says the ad's before-and-after "literally changed people," citing hair and eye color, and admits never using the app (App Store).
- 1 star, February 4, 2026: "The scan of my face doesn't even work" (App Store).
Fair to GlowMax: posture and grooming can change in two weeks. Real gains, just not proof of the score.
Is the GlowMax score accurate, and accurate at what?
Nobody has shown it is. GlowMax publishes no validation or repeat-test data, and its privacy policy says OpenAI generates the analysis and scoring. The number is a general-purpose AI model's opinion of one photo.
The concession: in 11 meta-analyses, raters agreed about who is attractive, within and across cultures (Langlois et al., 2000), so a model can echo consensus. Five AI rating sites tracked 24 resident doctors closely (r = 0.84) but scored higher, 6.9 versus 5.0, on 40 expressionless AI-generated faces (Goshtasbi et al., 2024): the easy case, not your selfie.
The catch: photos of one person varied in attractiveness more than different people did (Jenkins et al., 2011). Light, angle and front versus back camera move a single-photo score (same-face tests).
| What GlowMax scores | What a stranger reads first |
|---|---|
| One still photo | You, moving, from a few feet away |
| A PSL number from OpenAI's model | A snap read; 100 ms is enough for a face (Willis & Todorov, 2006) |
| Jawline, symmetry, skin | Grooming, expression, posture, fit |

Should you buy GlowMax's AI image packs?
We wouldn't. The listing doesn't say what the two packs contain. Whatever they hold, an AI glow-up image is a model's guess at a version of you that would rate higher, not evidence of what a routine will do.
Our rule: render, not result. A render can change what no routine touches: bone, hairline, eye color. Ask of any image: photographed or generated? The April reviewer asked exactly that of an ad.
The honest use: previewing a haircut or beard before you commit. That's worth something; a fantasy jaw isn't.
Is GlowMax safe? What happens to your photos?
On photos, clearer than most: images go to OpenAI encrypted, aren't stored on Starlight's servers or used for training, and stay in the app's History tab. The weak spots are age rules and template terms.
- OpenAI: keeps API inputs up to 30 days for abuse monitoring; no training by default (OpenAI).
- Label: usage data may track you across other companies' apps; photos are "not linked to you." Labels are self-reported; compare rivals in our privacy audit.
- Age: the App Store says 9+, the privacy policy addresses users 13 and up, and the terms require 18+.
- Terms: dated January 9, 2023, nearly three years before launch, generator-made, silent on subscriptions, refunds and AI.
How do you cancel GlowMax and get a refund?
Cancel in your Apple account; uninstalling deletes your local photos, not the subscription. Starlight's terms don't mention refunds, so Apple's process is the route.
- Cancel: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → GlowMax → Cancel Subscription (Apple).
- Refund: reportaproblem.apple.com → "I'd like to" → "Request a refund" → reason → purchase → Submit; expect an update in 24–48 hours (Apple). Wording that helps: our refund guide.
- Clean up: swipe left to delete photos in History, then uninstall.
Who should use GlowMax, and what should you use instead?
Use GlowMax yearly if you want an inexpensive AI coach for haircuts, skin and style and can ignore the PSL number. One scored photo can't tell you how you come across.
- No-paywall options first: our no-paywall looksmaxxing app list.
- The missing axis: our test reads your whole first impression (face, physique, outfit) on a 70–155 first-impression axis. About a minute of questions and two photos; results about 40 seconds later. The analysis runs first; you see your band, appeal personality and one strength before paying. The full report, including how many of 100 women passing would notice you and a dated 7/30/90-day plan, is $5 once, no subscription. It isn't a validated clinical instrument either.
One sincere note: GlowMax's April update promised progress rings with "an instant dopamine hit." If checking becomes the habit, the streak works for the app, not you. If scans leave you feeling worse, step back.
Key numbers
- 89 ratings, 3 written reviews: too thin to judge either way.
- $415.48: a year of weekly Premium at list price.
- 30 days: how long OpenAI may keep your photo for abuse monitoring.
- 6.9 vs 5.0: AI sites' average versus human raters' (Goshtasbi et al., 2024).
The bottom line
GlowMax is real software with better photo handling than most rivals, a thin review base and an unvalidated score. Pay yearly or not at all; never pay for a render.
Your face doesn't have a score that decides your life. It has an effect on people, formed fast and more movable than a number admits. See where your read lands, then decide what's worth changing.

Frequently asked questions
Is GlowMax free?
Free to download, not fully free to use. The App Store lists Premium at $7.99 a week, $12.99 a month, or $19.99 to $29.99 a year, and says Premium unlocks unlimited face and skin analysis. GlowMax is iPhone-only; any 'GlowMax APK' is not from its developer. For options with no paywall, see our list of no-paywall looksmaxxing apps.
Is GlowMax legit or a scam?
It is a real iPhone app from Starlight Ltd. with ordinary Apple billing and a 4.5-star average from 89 ratings. Two of its three written U.S. reviews are one-star and use the word scam, but one of those reviewers says they never used the app. Three reviews settle nothing. Our face-rating app complaints analysis shows the category's usual patterns.
Is the GlowMax PSL score accurate?
No one has shown that it is. GlowMax publishes no validation or repeat-test data, and its privacy policy says your photo is analyzed by OpenAI. Different photos of the same person vary in attractiveness more than different people do (Jenkins et al., 2011), so lighting and lens move the number. See why the same face gets different scores.
How do I cancel GlowMax and get a refund?
Cancel in Settings, your name, Subscriptions, GlowMax, Cancel Subscription. Deleting the app does not stop billing. Then request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com under 'I'd like to' and 'Request a refund'; Apple decides. Our cancel-and-refund guide has wording that helps.
Are GlowMax's AI before-and-after photos real?
An AI 'after' image is a render, a model's picture of a version of you it predicts would rate higher. It is not a photo of a result and not a forecast of what a routine will do. Use renders to preview a haircut, not to set expectations for your bones. More on whether face-rating apps work.
