MogMax App Review: Is MogMax AI Accurate, Free or Worth It?
MogMax AI sends your photo to OpenAI for a score, publishes no accuracy data and now requires a subscription. What users report, where photos go, a free option.

You take the selfie, choose the side selfie and outfit photo, and wait for the result. The moment that matters is not the scan itself; it is the blurred screen after it, when the app asks you to subscribe before showing what it thinks your face is worth.
Our verdict: MogMax is not an accuracy-tested attractiveness instrument. Its score comes from sending your photo to OpenAI's model, and the developer publishes no accuracy data; on iOS, a paid auto-renewing subscription is now required for the face and outfit score. Two users on two platforms also report the same 4.8 / 9.4-potential result, including one for a palm photo.

Key numbers
- 4.49 stars from 93 ratings on the U.S. iPhone listing: App Store listing.
- 4.5 stars, 3.69K reviews and 100K+ downloads on Android; the raw download counter shown was 138,213: Google Play listing.
- $0.99 to $99.99 across the iOS in-app purchase list, including a $49.99 yearly option: App Store listing.
- Five visible written reviews, all 1-star in the accessible iOS and Google Play samples; that is too small to represent the aggregate ratings.
- 30 days is the stated maximum period OpenAI keeps API inputs for abuse monitoring, while MogMax says scan photos remain stored while you use the app: privacy policy.
What is MogMax AI, and who makes it?
MogMax AI - LooksMax AI Rating is a Lifestyle app for iPhone and Android: it asks for a selfie, side selfie and outfit photo, promising face/outfit scores and a glow-up routine. The store seller is Applax Pte. Ltd.; legal documents instead name the “MOGMAX.AI Application Team,” use Turkish law, and place disputes in Izmir courts.
The iPhone listing says “Only for iPhone”; Android uses com.mogmax. iOS released March 29, 2024, reached 2.6 on August 24, 2026; Android updated August 20, 2026. iOS shows 9+, Google Play Everyone; policy requires at least 13, or 16 in the EEA and UK.
MogMax has 4.49 iOS stars (93 ratings) and 4.5 Android stars (3.69K reviews).
Footprint verifiable; the legal-entity mismatch warrants reading the policy before upload.
How does MogMax score your face?
MogMax's privacy policy says it uploads the photo to OpenAI, which “Reads the photo and returns the rating and the written feedback.” Returned material can include overall/per-feature scores, a comment, estimated age/nationality; Kie.ai generates hairstyle-tool images.
The reframe: A chatbot's opinion with a paywall. It is general-purpose AI reading a 2D photo, not a face-rating model with a published training set, rater benchmark or 3D method. Policy says no faceprint, TrueDepth or ARKit.

Is MogMax accurate?
No published accuracy evidence exists. We found no study, rater benchmark or developer methodology page; the Terms say service information is not warranted accurate, complete or useful. MogMax may generate plausible responses, but has not shown its number predicts strangers' perceptions.
Evidence is concrete but small. An iOS reviewer dated March 23, 2026 wrote: “Everyone begin between 4-5 score and what a consequence that everyone potential is 94% or so. I tested this with my friends (10 peoples) and all abt the same result.” A Google Play reviewer wrote July 23, 2026: “I took a picture of my palm, and it gave it a 4.8. It gives every single image a 4.8 with a 9.4 potential.”
The five visible reviews were 1-star, not representative of 4.49/4.5 aggregates: a consistency complaint, not a population study.

Is MogMax free? Is there a web app?
No, not in the usual sense of “free.” Current store text says, “SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED,” and requires a paid auto-renewing subscription for face/outfit scoring, routines and progress tracking. The policy says a paid subscription unlocks full scan results, AI tools and the improvement plan.
The paywall appears after the photo step, according to a May 23, 2026 Google Play review: “Just took my photo and everything else was behind a subscription paywall.” An older version mentioned a free reveal after inviting a friend; a January 17, 2025 reviewer said it required links to five friends but still asked for more. Whether that route remains in version 2.6 is unknown.
Mogmax.ai links to the stores; app.mogmax.ai, web.mogmax.ai and mogmax.app did not resolve, while mogmax.com redirects to mogmax.ai.
The historical invite route may have reduced the price; current store language still says subscription access.
What does MogMax cost?
The cost is clearer on iOS than Android, but the weekly price is not identifiable publicly. Apple lists purchases from $0.99 through $99.99 and a yearly membership at $49.99; Google Play shows $1.99–$99.99 per item. A reviewer claimed “like $20 per month,” an unverified report.
| MogMax option | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| iOS in-app purchase list | $0.99–$99.99 | Includes Reveal Your Score at $0.99, several packs, and Yearly Premium Membership at $49.99 |
| Yearly Premium Membership | $49.99/year | The yearly price is published; the weekly tier is NOT FOUND |
| Android in-app items | $1.99–$99.99 | Google Play range; the exact subscription price is not published in the accessible listing |
Weekly and yearly options are available, but no named iOS purchase identifies the weekly item; we cannot honestly convert it into a definite annual total.
See the explanation of face-rating app paywalls. Do not assume the first purchase is the whole cost.
Where do your photos go?
MogMax's privacy policy says photos are uploaded to Google Firebase storage in the United States and sent to OpenAI in the United States for ratings and feedback. Kie.ai receives images for image edits. MogMax says it does not sell photos, create a faceprint or use photos to train its own AI models.
The policy says OpenAI keeps API inputs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring and does not use them to train its models, as described by MogMax. Tool photos are deleted within 30 days, but scan photos and scores are kept while you use the app. Deletion requires emailing info@mogmax.ai with the User ID from Settings; deleting the app alone does not delete server data.
The platform labels conflict. iOS lists Usage Data used to track and Photos or Videos not linked to you; Google Play says “No data collected” and “No data shared with third parties.” The policy says photos are uploaded and sent to AI providers, so read it rather than the shortest store label.
We found the rules, but cannot independently verify every processor follows them.
How do you cancel MogMax and get a refund?
Cancel through the store that bills you, not by deleting the app. MogMax says subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends; Apple or Google manages payment and renewal.
- iPhone cancellation: Open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → MogMax → Cancel Subscription. Apple's instructions are at how to cancel a subscription.
- Apple refund: Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, choose “I'd like to,” then “Request a refund.”
- Android: Manage the subscription in Google Play.
- Photo deletion: Email info@mogmax.ai with the User ID from Settings; this is separate from cancellation.
The Terms contain no MogMax refund clause or in-house refund route.
Apple or Google handles refunds; a request is not a guarantee.
Which MogMax did you download?
Check the developer before trusting a result. MogMax AI - LooksMax AI Rating is listed under Applax Pte. Ltd.; MogMaxx - Looksmax & Ascend is from Basement Laboratories, Inc.; MogMax - Jawline Exercises is from Zoomob Limited; and Mog Academy is from Amethyst AI LLC.
They are not the same product. MogMaxx markets a PSL scale rating, MogMax - Jawline Exercises is an exercise app, and Mog Academy is a separate app with 610 ratings in the iTunes search data. Search results also include Mogger: LooksMax AI and Moggr - Haircut & Looksmax AI.
Similar names can attach the wrong review, policy or price to a developer. Match the title and seller before uploading or subscribing.
Is MogMax worth it, and what's the free alternative?
For a user seeking a validated read of real-world first impressions, MogMax is not worth paying for on the evidence available. It may be entertaining, but the score is an OpenAI interpretation, the developer publishes no accuracy data, it sits behind a subscription, and complaints include an alleged repeated 4.8 / 9.4-potential output.
The mistake is treating one app's number as a verdict. Ask what a stranger notices first and what is movable through lighting, grooming, clothing, expression or fitness.
The free alternative is our free first-impression test, which reads your whole first impression (face, physique, outfit). The read and breakdown are free on a free account with no card; deeper modules are $1.50 each, one-time, never a subscription. It is a perception test, not a clinical instrument.
Compare the best free looksmaxxing app with no paywall, and read do face-rating apps work?.
Our test is not validated; “free” means no card for the read and breakdown, while deeper modules are paid one-time options.
The bottom line
MogMax is a real app with real store distribution, but its score is not backed by published accuracy testing. The clearest description is a chatbot's opinion with a paywall: your photo goes to OpenAI, the number is presented as a product, and the face and outfit result now requires a paid auto-renewing subscription according to the iOS listing. The identical-score reports, including the palm example, make paying harder to justify.
Your face does have an effect on people, but that impression forms in about a tenth of a second—not as a permanent number that decides your life. Willis and Todorov found that people make trait judgments from a face after a 100-ms exposure, which is a reason to improve the signals you can move, not to spiral over an app's score. Start with our free first-impression test if you want a no-card read before deciding whether any deeper analysis is useful.
