Skeletal Frame
The bone structure under the muscle — clavicle width, ribcage size, wrist girth. The part of your build that training scales up but never reshapes.
What Skeletal Frame means
Skeletal frame means the bone dimensions that set your build's chassis: biacromial (clavicle-driven) shoulder width, ribcage circumference and depth, plus wrist and ankle girth as proxies for overall bone thickness. A 17 cm wrist versus a 19 cm wrist usually travels with different clavicles and ribcage too, which is why old-school lifters used wrist tape as a frame estimate — a rough proxy, not a verdict. Frame is fixed once growth plates close, around 18-21 for most men. Height belongs in the same fixed category, which is exactly what the height percentile data on this site maps.
What it actually does to the first impression
Frame sets the canvas the 1.2-second read gets painted on: a wide-clavicle man looks 'built' at a body weight where a narrow-frame man looks slim, in identical shirts. Bone width also survives clothing better than muscle detail does. The caveat cuts both ways — frame without conditioning reads as big rather than athletic, and a small frame carried lean with trained delts reads sharper than a large frame at 24% body fat. First impressions reward the frame-plus-condition combination, never the skeleton alone.
Reality check: the forums vs the data
Forums split into two errors here. The blackpill version says frame is destiny, ignoring that the visible inputs — delts, lats, waist, posture — can move a silhouette by a full clothing size. The cope version sells 'frame training' to adults, when no exercise lengthens a clavicle after fusion. The honest split: the skeleton sets the floor and the ceiling, conditioning decides where between them you actually present. Most men are nowhere near their frame's ceiling, which makes the destiny framing premature for nearly everyone arguing about it.
