How to get a measurement worth trusting
Use a straight-on photo with your head level, taken from at least arm's length. A close-range selfie's wide-angle lens widens the middle of your face and lengthens it — enough to flip oval into rectangle. If your hairline has receded, tap your original hairline (where the forehead muscle starts) to match the anatomical convention. The same face measures 2-4% differently across photos; that is hand-placed landmark error, not your face changing.

Your face shape does not decide how you are read
Face shape is a styling coordinate, not a rank. No attractiveness study has ever sorted people by geometric outline and scored the groups: the strongest single predictor in Rhodes' review of the field is averageness, not any one contour, and the judgement Willis and Todorov measured at 100 milliseconds is holistic rather than an audit of ratios. So the honest use of a shape label is narrow and practical — it tells your barber where to add volume. That is the whole job. How can I identify my face shape?
Take four measurements — face length (mid-hairline to the bottom of the chin), forehead width, cheekbone width at its widest point below the outer eye corners, and jaw width between the jaw angles — then compare them. This tool has you tap those landmarks on a photo and does the arithmetic, showing every ratio it used.
Is the photo really never uploaded?
Really. The photo is loaded by your browser and every calculation is in-page geometry — no network request carries image data. You can confirm it yourself in the Network panel of your browser's developer tools.
What is a free app that can tell me my face shape?
This page is one, and it needs no account, no email and no upload. The trade-off is honest: you place the landmarks, so the accuracy depends on your photo and your taps rather than on a model you cannot inspect.
The tool gave me two shapes. Which one is right?
Both, in the sense that your measurements sit within a few percent of the boundary — which is inside the noise of tapping points by hand. Re-shoot straight-on and measure again; trust the answer only when two clean photos agree.
Can you change your face shape?
Bone width does not respond to skincare or routine. What does change is the outline people see: body fat, hair volume and where it sits, beard shape, frame width, collar spread.
