Distrust the photo before you distrust your face
A few degrees of head rotation can manufacture 3-5% of apparent asymmetry on its own. Use a straight-on photo with your head level, taken from at least arm's length: a close-range selfie enlarges whichever side is nearer the lens, which is enough by itself to invent an asymmetry that is not there. The same face measures a few percent differently across photos, and that is measurement error rather than your face changing.

Perfect symmetry does not exist, and is not the target
Symmetry is a real cue in the attractiveness literature and a modest one. Rhodes' review of the field puts symmetry, averageness and sexual dimorphism side by side and finds averageness the stronger predictor, which is the opposite of how the forums rank them. Little, Jones and DeBruine's overview reaches the same place: real effects, smaller than the discourse implies. Treat your deviation figures as information about structure, not a verdict. How do I check my face symmetry?
Draw a midline from the point between your brows to the bottom of your chin, then compare the perpendicular distance from that line to each paired landmark — outer eye corners, mouth corners, jaw angles — on the left against the right. This tool does exactly that from eight taps and shows you all three comparisons.
Is the photo really never uploaded?
Really. The photo is loaded by your browser and every calculation is in-page geometry — no network request carries image data. You can confirm it in the Network panel of your browser's developer tools.
What is a good facial symmetry score?
There is no authoritative threshold, and anyone quoting one is inventing it. Mild asymmetry is the human default. Rather than chasing a number, measure two different straight-on photos and see whether the result is stable.
What causes an uneven face?
Ordinary developmental variation accounts for most of it, and habits such as sleeping position or chewing on one side get blamed more than the evidence supports. Before assuming a structural cause, rule out the photo: rotation, lens distance and lighting all produce asymmetry that is not in your face.
Can facial asymmetry be fixed?
Skeletal asymmetry does not respond to skincare or routine. What you can control is how you are photographed — square to the lens, head level, and not always the same side in every selfie.
