How to get a measurement worth trusting
Use a straight-on photo with your head level, taken from at least arm's length. A close-range selfie enlarges the nose and lengthens the face, which moves the first two ratios directly. If your hairline has receded, tap your original hairline. Hand-placed landmarks carry a few percent of error on their own, so these numbers only mean something when two different photos agree.

We do not think φ can judge a face
We built this because the question deserves an honest answer, not because we believe the answer. The golden ratio entered facial aesthetics through centuries of repetition rather than through evidence: Holland's paper in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery is a published critique of Marquardt's Phi mask, and its central objection is that deriving a beauty standard from fashion models and then using it to judge beauty is circular. Hwang and Park's history of the divine proportion in plastic surgery lands in the same place. Meanwhile the strongest cue in Rhodes' review of the actual attractiveness literature is averageness, which is not φ. How do I check my face golden ratio?
Measure three pairs — face length against face width, mouth width against nose width, and brow-to-chin against nose-to-chin — then divide each pair and see how far the result sits from 1.618. This tool does that from ten taps and shows every ratio it used.
Is the photo really never uploaded?
Really. The photo is loaded by your browser and every calculation is in-page geometry — no network request carries image data. You can confirm it in the Network panel of your browser's developer tools.
Does a higher golden ratio score mean a more attractive face?
There is no good evidence for that. The best-known implementation of the idea, Marquardt's Phi mask, was criticised in the peer-reviewed literature precisely because its normative data came from fashion models — which makes the standard circular rather than predictive.
Why does my result change between photos?
Hand-placed landmarks carry a few percent of error, and lens distance and head angle add more on top. Measure two different straight-on photos; trust the figure only when they agree.
What is the golden ratio for faces?
