Someone replied to your photo with three clinical words and a number: canthal tilt, gonial angle, midface ratio. You searched them separately, opened diagrams that looked like surgical notes, and wondered which label explained your face.

Here is the clean answer: these are real terms from surgery, orthodontics, and physical anthropometry. They describe real structures and relationships. None can be measured accurately from an ordinary phone photo.

Eye region terms

Eye-region terms describe the corners, opening, lids, and support around the eyes. The same eye can look different when you smile, squint, tilt your head, or move the camera.

Jaw and lower-face terms

Why none of these survive a phone camera

Head pitch, yaw, and roll also change angles. A slightly lifted chin alters the jaw and neck; a turned head makes one cheek or eye more prominent. Lighting edits too: shadow can reveal a contour, flatten it, or invent a hollow without changing the structure.

A selfie has no reliable scale reference. You are looking at a moving, lens-dependent projection of a three-dimensional face, often with an expression you would not wear in conversation.

Which of these actually move a first impression?

Features you can control in a photograph usually move the first impression more than the skeletal features people obsess over. Lighting, angle, expression, grooming, and lower-face body fat alter the image immediately. A hidden ramus does not.
